Automation of precision work at Conforma

Packaging with robotic colleagues
Conforma produces a wide variety of packaging, including multi-tube boxes containing five or ten tubes. The precision work involved in filling these boxes is repetitive, error-prone and physically demanding for employees. Conforma wanted to automate this process so that employees could focus on more complex tasks.

Cobot for precision work
Together with Flanders Make, Conforma is developing a collaborative robot that unfolds boxes, places tubes and leaflets inside them and closes them. The cobot works safely alongside people, stops automatically when proximity is detected and can be maintained by internal technicians.

Result
More efficient and people-friendly
The test setup shows that the process can be reliably automated. This increases efficiency, improves ergonomics for employees and enables growth. If successful, Conforma wants to roll out the solution further in production.
