Rebooting manufacturing industry with digitalisation skill development [REBOOT SKILLS]
What is REBOOT SKILLS?
The train of digitization is racing ahead, changing the way we define digital skills and the extent to which we depend on technology. The COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted the existing shortage of digital expertise in Europe. Europe has a systematic gap between market needs and the supply of (digital) skills. 53% of companies trying to recruit ICT specialists are struggling. As a result, there is insufficient use of innovative digital technologies. There is a great need for upskilling of both employed and job seekers.
The Digital Europe program supports strategic projects to meet these challenges and increase the pool of digital experts in Europe. REBOOT SKILLS aims to upskill the European manufacturing industry. Through cooperation between higher education, research and industry, a broadly accessible and low-threshold training offer is created around four pillars: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics and Cybersecurity.
Objectives
REBOOT SKILLS aims to create a sustainable and collaborative training offering to meet the digitization needs of SMEs operating in the manufacturing industry.
- Facilitate access by SMEs owners, managers and employees to high-class digital training that is easily afforded in a multi-site setting.
- Increase the number of women and men able to design, develop and deploy digital solutions in the manufacturing industry.
- Contributing to the European strategy to promote the sustainable competitiveness of the European manufacturing industry at the global level.
