Easy AI for industry

Through our COOCK project EARN (Simple AI for Industry), we are making deep learning and artificial intelligence for computer vision accessible for industrial applications.

Although machine learning has been used for image interpretation for many years, deep learning has caused a revolution in recent years. The technology offers enormous possibilities, but remains difficult to implement, especially for SMEs, due to the technical knowledge required and the complexity of neural networks.

With EARN, Flanders Make aims to bridge this gap and help companies apply AI in a practical and profitable way in their production processes.

The EARN project aims to lower the threshold for AI applications in industry by developing:

• A software toolbox for defect detection, object recognition, object counting and position determination, built from AI models and algorithms from previous projects.
• A deep learning framework in a cloud environment, with innovative data annotation and training methods for easy implementation.
• PC and smartphone apps that allow operators to use trained AI models directly on the shop floor for rapid image analysis and feedback.
• Knowledge sharing and training through workshops, events, publications and educational videos, so that companies can explore AI and deep learning with minimal risk and investment.
