Manufacturing metrology lab
The Manufacturing Metrology research group focuses on researching, developing and optimising advanced measurement techniques, and implementing solutions for quality control in manufacturing. Our expertise covers surface and 3D coordinate metrology using both tactile and optical probes, as well as X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT) — serving sectors such as advanced manufacturing, energy and healthcare.
Our offer
For research and industrial services, our Manufacturing Metrology group operates three climate-controlled measurement laboratories that comply with international standards:
- One X-ray CT laboratory housing two CT systems, and
- Two additional laboratories equipped with more conventional instruments such as tactile CMMs, laser line scanners (LLS), surface roughness testers, and more.
You can rely on us for:
- Verification of dimensions and tolerances
- Measurement of surface texture and roughness
- Digitisation of components for CAD comparison
- Calibration of 3D coordinate measuring machines and machining centres
