The Make Lab is a mobile research lab and testing ground, fully equipped with cutting-edge technology. Within this fully connected research infrastructure, we collaborate with companies to tackle their technological challenges and jointly identify opportunities for growth and innovation.

We offer the following:

  • demonstrations of new Industry 4.0 technologies
  • training sessions for your operators using these technologies
  • feasibility studies

Demonstrations

Working conditions in the production environment of the future will change drastically due to technologies such as:

  • Virtual Reality
  • Augmented Reality
  • digital work instructions
  • robot programming
  • collaboration with cobots
  • and more.

Companies are often hesitant or cautious about adopting these new technologies. With our Make Lab, we can demonstrate these innovations and offer companies the opportunity to test and experience them in a realistic production setting — in an informal and accessible way.

Training

Operators in production environments will see their roles evolve in the future. Does this mean their jobs will soon be taken over by robots? No — but the way they work will change.
Connected machines and their so-called “big data” are the driving force behind the factory of the future. New technologies such as Virtual and Augmented Reality will support operators in their daily tasks, for example by providing tailored digital instructions or projecting procedures in 3D.
Operators will also need to learn how to work side-by-side with collaborative robots. Work will become different — better, more efficient, and adapted to the needs of an ageing workforce.

We make the Make Lab available for hands-on training courses covering:

  • Virtual and Augmented Reality
  • digital work instructions
  • 3D projections
  • collaboration with and programming of robots and cobots
  • and more.

In addition, our Make Lab enables us to measure the physical and cognitive workload of operators during these activities.

Feasibility Studies

You can also use the Make Lab for feasibility studies.
Do you have a specific (assembly) technology or method you’d like to test, but lack the infrastructure or expertise to complete your research? Flanders Make can support you. Together, we determine the best solution to your (technological) challenge and test it under realistic production conditions.
