Feasibility test in the design phase
Tenneco wanted to better support product designers in assessing the feasibility of parts for the sintering process. In collaboration with Flanders Make, the existing CAMECAD tool was further developed to automatically check production rules during the design phase.

Formalised knowledge as a guideline
The tool translates production expertise into mathematical rules that can be understood by both humans and computers. This allows potential design errors, such as incorrect material thicknesses or holes placed too close together, to be detected immediately and displayed visually in a user-friendly interface.

Result
More efficient design, shorter learning curve
CAMECAD helps experienced designers work faster and provides junior designers with feedback to improve their designs. The expertise of sintering process experts is recorded and can be continuously expanded, leading to more efficient, robust designs and fewer errors in production.
