Smart cooling for comfortable homes

Better insulation and airtightness make homes more energy efficient, but also increase the risk of overheating in summer. DUCO saw the need for an automated solution that optimally controls sun protection and ventilative cooling, even when residents are not at home.

Advanced customised control

Together with Flanders Make, DUCO developed algorithms that take into account home type, orientation and living patterns. The system automatically lowers sun protection and opens ventilation grilles or hatches at the ideal moment, fully in line with regulations such as the Dutch BENG standards.

Result

Sustainable alternative to air conditioning

Simulations show that an apartment with floor cooling consumes less energy with automatic sun blinds, and even less in combination with ventilative cooling. The technology increases comfort, meets legal requirements and won the public award at the Dutch Construction Fair.
