Transforming Robotics with Skill-Based Programming

This course teaches advanced robot programming techniques, focusing particularly on skill-based programming and enhancing human-robot interactions. By the end of this course, you will be proficient in transitioning a collaborative robot (cobot) from traditional hardcoded programming to a more flexible, parameterized skill-based system. You'll also learn to develop your own library of skills for various applications.

Course Outline:

  • Introduction to Robot Programming Strategies: Delve into the various approaches including Hardcoded, Simulation, Programming-by-Demonstration, and Skill-based programming.
  • Skill-Based Programming with SkiROS: Explore the fundamentals of the SkiROS framework and its applications in robotic programming.
  • Hands-On Skill Development: Practical session on coding new skills into the robot, using the SkiROS framework.
  • Digital Assistant Framework: Learn how to implement a digital assistant layer over SkiROS to facilitate smoother operations.
  • Interactive Session on Human-Robot Collaboration: Engage in a hands-on experience focusing on intuitive interaction techniques between humans and robots.

Hands on learning:
Participants will gain the skills necessary to program a robot to assemble a light switch using the skill-based framework. This will include configuring the robot to perform tasks adaptively, based on real-time interactions and pre-defined skill sets.

Who Should Enroll:
This course is ideal for robotics enthusiasts, engineers, and professionals eager to enhance their understanding of modern robot programming methods and eager to apply these skills in industrial settings.
