ISMA51 - Intensive Course on Modal Analysis: Theory and Practice
Intensive Course on Modal Analysis: Theory and Practice
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at KU Leuven organises this two-day course on modal analysis for the 51st time. The programme offers a practical and comprehensive introduction to modal testing, with a strong focus on data acquisition and multi-channel modal analysis techniques.
This intensive training combines theoretical lectures with numerous live demonstrations and hands-on examples. Participants will take part in a full-scale multi-channel survey of a real-life structure and gain insight into how modal analysis is applied in industrial practice through dedicated case studies.
By combining theory with practical application, the course creates opportunities to discuss both technical concepts and real-world challenges with experts in the field. The final part of the programme explores practical applications of modal analysis, including troubleshooting, structural assessment and model updating.
For whom?
The course is primarily intended for newcomers to modal testing who already have a background in structural dynamics.
As the programme also covers state-of-the-art techniques in modal analysis, experienced professionals can use the course to refresh and expand their expertise.
Location and language
- The course takes place on 10–11 September 2026 at KU Leuven, Celestijnenlaan 300, B-3001 Leuven, Belgium.
