Sensor positions determine the exact location of sensors such as cameras, lidar, and IMUs on a mobile or autonomous vehicle. This accuracy is crucial for correctly perceiving the environment and enabling safe actions such as steering, braking, and detecting obstacles.

In practice, however, sensor positions are regularly disrupted by normal use. Detecting and correcting such deviations often requires a lot of time, specialized expertise, and specific infrastructure. In addition, the vehicle often has to be taken out of service, resulting in downtime and additional costs.

During this Tech@Lunch session in February, we will explain an approach that allows sensor positions to be monitored continuously and online, based on elements from the environment. This allows deviations to be detected more quickly, without interrupting normal operation. Companies do not need to delve into the complex mathematical models behind the technology: we provide a robust and applicable solution.

Who is this session interesting for?

This Tech@Lunch is relevant for companies that work with mobile vehicles whose operation is highly dependent on sensors, such as cameras, lidar, or IMUs. This applies to both autonomous and non-autonomous vehicles.

The approach is particularly interesting for vehicles that operate in outdoor environments. In such conditions, sensors become miscalibrated more quickly and recalibration is more complex, as it often requires a technician on site or the vehicle to be returned to the workshop.

This session is also relevant for companies that:
•    do not have in-depth expertise in sensor position estimation
•    want to maintain flexibility in their sensor configuration

The solution we explain is independent of the type and number of sensors used. This allows you to avoid vendor lock-in and keeps your system future-proof.
