Advanced thermal characterisation and validation of drivetrain systems & components
With our advanced thermal characterisation setup you can build up and/or validate detailed power loss models for drivetrain components and systems.
Location: FlandersMake@.UGent
This infrastructure is an add-on to the generic test infrastructure for electromechanical components and systems, and focuses specifically on building and validating detailed power loss models for drive components and systems. The calorimeter allows you to measure power losses with very high accuracy (<1%) and even determine the overall efficiency for repetitive dynamic motion profiles. With the fast thermal camera (can also be rented), you can quickly identify rotating hotspots, analyse thermal interaction between components, check the calculated temperature distribution for the system and validate IR sensors.
Technical specifications
- Specifically designed for drivetrain testing
- Max test sizes: 1,3m x 1,0m x 1,8m
- Power loss measurement up to 20 kW with accuracy of <1%
- High-end high-speed thermal camera with frame rate of 233 Hz, -40 °C up to 1200°C
Additional specifications can be found on the page of the generic testing infrastructure.
