Webinar: Derisking of Industrial IoT
About this webinar
Industrial automation and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) present remarkable opportunities for industries to enhance performance, fortify resilience against crises, and bolster competitiveness. As introduction to our half-hour webinar, which takes place on Thursday 15 February 12h until 12h30, we briefly indicate domains in which these benefits can be realised and outline a systematic approach to calculating financial justifications. Both points will be illustrated using an example among our Flanders Make implementations.
More information
While potential for success is high, that for risk related to inadequately secured industrial automation and cloud technologies is a significant risk too, and not only to the implementing company but also to value chain partners interacting with them. Inevitably, users and technology providers will be compelled to adhere to evolving legislation to safeguard their systems. However, achieving secure automation and cloud integration can be intricate and challenging. In response, our webinar provides actionable recommendations to keep securing automation and cloud applications a manageable task.
A key focus of our discussion is the efficacy of standardisation, pre-configuration, and automation of cloud deployments for smart manufacturing to minimise implementation and maintenance efforts, and improve resilience. Regarding the on-premises installations, we propose simple steps to improve networking security through zone segregation complemented with a few commonsensical measures. Both production and cloud can be secured better by differentiated access controls for people, equipment, and software. Software should be analysed for vulnerabilities, whether embedded in a product, delivery by a provider or made in-house (potential with outside help). This approach enables to make a large step in hardening your systems. Maintenance and updates will remain necessary.
These principles apply equally to hardware and software providers and to their users, integrators, service providers, and those who manufacture goods
Finally, we will guide participants how to leverage standards and guidelines, as well as the support available in Belgium, featuring practical advice and templates from Flanders Make.
