Adhesive joining technology for lightweight structures

Adhesive joining technology plays a major role in realizing highly engineered structures which are made of multi-materials. From weight saving to flexibility in design, adhesives can offer a lot of benefits for engineering joints. However, debonding and effective optimization of the adhesive joining parameters are still important challenges for research.

Within the framework of the educational activities of Righweight interreg North Wwestern Europe project, Flanders Make is organizing its “Adhesive joining technology for lightweight structures” webinar, on 18 October starting at 13h00.

In this webinar, an introduction to the adhesive joining technology and its key subprocesses will be introduced. An overview of the main types of adhesives, quality control and the main challenges of adhesive joining will be discussed. The webinar will also highlight the current research achievements within Flanders Make to address the circularity and debondability challenges of adhesives. Finally, the current trends in digitization and data driven modeling and optimization in the adhesive joining process realized in Flanders Make will be presented.
