Workable work
What is workable work?
Workable work means that employees can perform their jobs in a healthy and sustainable way until the end of their careers. Workable work stands for jobs with sufficient challenge, autonomy and variety. Moreover, it is work that matches the employee's competences. With a good work-life balance and room for recovery.
Workable work is also important for employers and society as a whole. Employees who have workable work are more motivated, more productive and drop out less often. The quality of work delivered will therefore be higher. In addition, workable work also ensures sustainable employability of workers. It leads to less pressure on the health system and an increased contribution of workers to the economy.
What does Flanders Make do on workable work?
Workable work is an important topic within Flanders Make, because it contributes to the health and productivity of workers in the industry. We therefore do several things in the field of workable work:
- Research: We conduct research on workable work in the manufacturing industry. This looks at the various factors that contribute to workable work, such as ergonomics, communication, flexibility and career development. The aim of the research is to gain insight into how we can improve workable work in the manufacturing industry and which innovative technologies we can use to do so.
- Cooperation: We work together with companies in the (manufacturing) industry to promote workable work. This involves looking at how companies can adapt their working environment and processes. We also cooperate on innovative technologies that can contribute to workable work, such as exoskeletons, cobots and augmented reality.
- Knowledge sharing: We share knowledge and experiences in the field of workable work with other companies and organisations in the industry. For example, we regularly organise workshops, seminars and conferences where we share the latest insights and developments in the field of workable work.
