Tech@Lunch March: thousands of novel architectures in minutes to design more efficient thermal systems

To support systems engineers in (re)designing complex systems, a web-based tool has been developed that automatically generates and evaluates system architectures. The tool uses constraint programming, parallel programming, and system simulation to create and analyze 1000s of topological variants in a matter of minutes.
From component library to optimized designs
Starting from a component library extracted from an existing reference architecture and user-defined topological constraints, the software automatically generates all feasible design options. Each design is then converted into a Matlab Simscape model and assessed against key performance indicators (KPIs). The designs are ranked based on the KPIs and lead to a pareto front when more than one KPI is defined. Such ranking enables down-selection of the most promising designs which can then be further refined and optimized by a systems engineer.
Demonstration on the E-Evoque research vehicle
During the session, this innovative approach will be applied on Flanders Make's E-Evoque research vehicle to virtually demonstrate various thermal architecture options and associated KPI improvements.
