JOIN OUR HEURISKO WEBINARS ON APRIL 22, HOSTED AT THE ONLINE AND& FESTIVAL
This year, Flanders Make joins forces with and& to host its annual Heurisko webinars, presenting the most meaningful and eloquent research results and the concrete applications from the partner companies that were involved. and& is a Belgian tech conference taking place from April 21-25, 2021 and the Heurisko sessions will be hosted on April 22 in the afternoon.
By subscribing for the sessions, you will receive a 5-day ticket with access to over 100 keynote sessions linked to the central topic of the event 'innovate for the better', a mindset we believe is crucial to create sustainable technologies. On our invitation, you can also enjoy a 5€ discount on the normal ticket price for the entire festival, using the following discount code: FLANDERSMAKELOVESAND
12h15 - How to reduce torque ripple on drivetrains?
Torque ripple is an unwanted variation in drive or load torque that negatively impacts the life of a drivetrain. In a world where increasing performance per cost is the number one priority, it should come as no surprise that reducing torque ripple is gaining in importance, both in automotive and industrial applications.
In this webinar we will take a closer look at two strategies to reduce torque ripple. The speakers will explain the concepts and the potential of the developed algorithms and components on the basis of two cases: an electric vehicle and a loom.
Speakers: Branimir Mrak (Flanders Make), Jeroen Willems (Flanders Make), Florian Verbelen (FlandersMake@UGent) and Fabien Chauvicourt (Siemens Industry Software)

13u20 - How to create the next generation AI based autonomous systems?
Over the last decade, mechatronic systems have become the new industrial standard when it comes to creating cost-efficient production lines or replacing time-consuming business processes, but Artificial Intelligence is now rapidly changing the pace at which robots can learn new abilities and the industry is adopting new applications.
In this webinar we will dive into automated AI vision techniques for robots to locate products, open software for constraint-based optimal motion planning and an automated drone solution for inventory taking.
Speakers: Abdellatif Bey-Temsamani (Flanders Make), Joris Gillis (FlandersMake@KULeuven) and Frederik Winters (DroneMatrix)

14h25 - Keynote: Will industry lead the green transition?
If in the future we want to live in greater harmony with our planet, technology will play a major role in the transition towards more green and sustainable uses of mother nature’s resources. But how can industry lead the way to a greener society and what are the key success factors to do so?
In this keynote, Dirk Torfs (Flanders Make), Manon Janssens (GIMV) and Thomas Ambra (imec) will highlight how concepts such as digital transformation, big data and Internet of Things will change the way we develop new technologies for the better.

15h30 - How to exploit domain knowledge to improve your product or production?
Experts that are active in a specific technical domain generate a lot of insights and knowledge during the R&D processes. Flanders Make research supports companies to fully take advantage of this domain knowledge to improve the actual products and production.
In this webinar, you will learn about techniques to improve design and operational performance through physical-model based digital twins, to speed up data analytics on your complete production line through formal knowledge modeling and to leverage your formalised domain knowledge to optimize product design and to improve design.
Speakers: Claus Claeys (FlandersMake@KULeuven), Johan Van Noten (Flanders Make), Carl Wouters (Atlas Copco) and Stijn Derammelaere (FlandersMake@UAntwerpen)

16h35 - How to evaluate and improve operator ergonomics?
Ergonomics is a crucial factor for well-being at work. F.e. overhead cranes can help operators to lift heavy loads. In this webinar, you will learn about how smart sensing and actuation technology in such cranes can help to reduce the ergonomic loads and increase productivity.
Flanders Make will also present technology based on low-cost cameras that allows for an objective real-time evaluation of the ergonomic score without disturbing the operator. Next to that, you will learn about simulation models of the work cell and the operator actions to take ergonomic scores into account in the early design phase. Daikin will finally explain why all of this is important and show how it can be applied to concrete industrial cases.
Speakers: Gabriel Abedrabbo (Flanders Make), Joram Meskens (Flanders Make) and Timothy Mahieu (Daikin)
