G-code for robots
Event address
In general, robot movements are programmed using waypoints and circular movements of the teach pendant. This approach is fine for common cobot applications, such as machine operation, palletising or general pick-and-place. However, it does not work so well for process applications where robots need to follow complex trajectories. Imagine having to programme a robot to dispense liquid gasket on top of a car engine block. How long would it take to learn all the waypoints the robot needs to follow the contours of the engine? Maybe a few hours, or even a day or two?
G-code offers the solution! G-code, a standard language used in CNC machines, helps define the movements of these machine tools. Introduce G-code tooltpaths to control your cobots in a similar way. The result is a more streamlined and efficient programming process.
