The future of the manufacturing industry

How can research contribute to innovation in a company? What does it mean to work in the factory of the future and how do we prepare for it? Why is personalisation at the cost of serie production so important? These were the central questions of the second edition of the Flanders Make Symposium.

It was an inspiring day during which we discussed the trends that will define the future of the manufacturing industry. We talked about our research results and showed concrete cases of the companies we work with. National and international speakers from the industry, research facilities and academic institutions addressed topics such as smart products and production systems, their influence on the (end) consumer, competition in a globalized world and innovation in a (Flemish) SME-context.

In addition to knowledge sharing through presentations and demonstrations, we also provided networking opportunities.

For our first edition we welcomed over 300 industry leaders, researchers, managers, scientists and other interested parties. All these companies were present in 2016: Dana Belgium, Fraunhofer, Atlas Copco, Unilin, DuvedeC, Volvo Car Belgium, AGFA, Melexis, Televic, ABB, Michel Van De Wiele, Heidenhain, Picanol, LRM, Proceedix, Proferro, SKF, Verhaert, Actemium, Idewe, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Kuka, Noesis, Mohawk Industries, E-Trucks Europe, Bosal, Niko, LVD, Materialise, Argon, Grammer Electronics, Bombardier Transportation, Averna, VCST, Arkite, ATS, Onsemi, Boortmalt, Tenneco, Octinion, Mathworks, Ninix Technologies, Ordina, Van Hoecke Automation, Pilipili, Terumo, Achilles Design, U-Sentric, Tesla Belgium, Bekaert, Kerv Automotive, Siemens, Sagility, Xenics, Easics, Philips, Dedecker, Ford, Vansichen Lineairtechniek, Atos, dotOcean, Continental, FRS Robotics, PearlChain, CNH Industrial, Moeyersons, Asco, Daikin, VAC Machines, Esset, MSD Metalworking, VDL, RSScan, Flamac, DS Smith Packaging, ZF Wind Power,…
