The monitoring of changing processes where the monitoring parameters evolve during the process such as melt pool monitoring in additive manufacturing or digital printing production, requires fast and accurate data to take real-time decisions. Hence, the goal of this project is to realize a vision-based machine control platform, consisting of
- Vision-based monitoring hardware
- Simplified but robust image processing algorithms
- Robust control algorithms
It is paramount that the developed solution is easy to install and doesn’t require machine modifications. The resulting solution takes the overall process into account as information is coming from a global vision-based system instead of different local sensors. This will enable industrial partners to have access to rich information about the monitored process that can significantly improve the speed and the quality of the process.
